It looks interesting. The description reminds me of Accelerando by Charles Stross.

Re: http://colegleason.com/blog/a-fly-to-a-flashlight

I highly suggest reading Stephen Baxter's "Manifest: Space." I think you'll find it to your liking.
-JL

Re: colegleason.com - An Open Thank You Note for HIMYM

Thanks for the comment! I just feel like a lot of people think fandoms are weird and obsessive, and maybe it is, but they can also be fulfilling, fun, and an important part of your life. Maybe, as some people claim, HIMYM is just Friends rehashed. But, it is my Friends rehash. And I will suit up, lasertag, high five, and be generally awesome to defend it.

But I do agree that Craig Thomas and Carter Bays do a great job, and I love those touching episodes like "Bad News" just as much as the rest of them.

Re: colegleason.com - An Open Thank You Note for HIMYM

Truly a touching article! I too have suffered from depression/had suicidal tendencies in the past, it's kept me from pursuing careers, caused a rift in many of my relationships with friends, family etc. I still have those thoughts every now and then, and it's stories like these that remind me of the friends that i would leave behind, the deep seeded love that they have that just isn't shown on the day to day. I also have an obsession with HIMYM, and whenever i feel down i'll watch my favorite episode "Miracles", the scene where Barney, Marshall and Ted are throwing pencils in Mclaren's roof gets me every time. And when i feel like i have a lot of stress/pent up anger i watch "Bad News" and "Last Words" back to back because a good cry is always better then the alternative. But HIMYM has played an alarmingly large part of my life as well the past few years. I think Carter Bays and Craig Thomas do a wonderful job writing the show, not to mention the acting done by the cast. (NPH is also on my "if i were gay list") most of my friends don't get that though haha. But to wrap up, this article made my day! A new quote i live by every day...
"When i'm sad, i stop being sad, and be AWESOME instead" - Barney Stinson :)
